The Salem Polytechnic College is a premier institution carving its name as a center of institution both in academic and extra curricular activities.

It was inaugurated by The Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Bharat Ratna Dr.M.G.Ramachandran, in the year 1984 and is being managed by Sengunthar Educational Trust. Sri A. Sankara Mudaliar, Sri P.Ramasamy Mudaliar, Sri K.R.Manicka Mudaliar and Sri S.P.Sambandam Mudaliar, Sri A.Duraisamy Mudaliar the patrons of this polytechnic strongly believed to “Impart sound technical education irrespective of caste, creed or colour”.
The members of the trust are eminent, industrial wizards and Samaritans who have been contributing their mite for the noble cause of technical education, and a vision to provide world class facilities in professional education. Two more institutions, namely, Salem Polytechnic ITI and Sengunthar Matriculation School have blossomed under the able administration of our trust.
